Ollie
Ollie is a collaborative design project exploring how everyday tableware can subtly enhance the dining experience in small group settings. The project reimagines the traditional olive dish by focusing on cleanliness, interaction, and visual simplicity, aiming to make the act of sharing food more intentional and engaging.
Designed as a shared olive platter, Ollie introduces a central opening that functions as a contained space for pits, eliminating the need for a separate discard bowl. This simple intervention improves the flow of the dining experience while maintaining a clean and refined table presentation. The system can extend beyond olives to other foods such as nuts, seeds, or fruits, offering a versatile approach to shared consumption.
The project emphasizes minimal form, functional clarity, and the social dynamics that emerge around shared objects. By addressing a small but familiar dining gesture, Ollie demonstrates how thoughtful design can elevate everyday rituals through subtle yet effective solutions.
